For me, the curb appeal of the outside of the hotel is not great. It looks like a lump of concrete. Yes, it is a great location and has a lovely golf course with a good view across the green. And even though it has been refurbished the entrance hall/ foyer feels dated. The chunky, same colour sofas are just hideous. However, dont let that fool you, From booking to checking out was a really lovely experience. We booked a dog friendly room. The staff were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble. Nice comfortable ground floor room overlooking the gardens. Dog friendly treats etc. We ate in the restaurant for dinner. Food and service was perfect. Really nice breakfast. Even if you don't stay the night, go for dinner. dogs welcome in the bar. We are residents in the Isle of Man and would recommend visitors and family to stay. We would certainly return for a stay cation.
First impressions were good and staff pleasant. Stayed 4 nights and given room that had an interconnecting door, which was unlocked! There was a large panel slotted against the wardrobe, which presumably was waiting to be put over the interconnecting doorway. Unfortunately the lamp control was also shoved behind the panel, so we could only switch the lamp on and off by moving the panel. The bath plug was held together by what appeared to be a paper clip with the prongs sticking out. Despite reporting the room issues to reception, no one bothered to do anyting about it. The restaurant food was generally good and staff were pleasant, but one evening my husband's main meal was given to another diner and despite staff being made aware of my food allergy, I was still given a potentially life threatening dessert, being assured that it was safe for me. I appreciate that dogs are welcomed in the hotel and appear to be able to go anywhere, but I personally don't think that dogs should be allowed into the restaurant. |Overall although there were issues, we stayed positive and enjoyed our first visit to the Isle of Man.
