To no fault of their own, mother nature took the beach away. The service is amazing. The resort fee includes non motorized sports. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food is delicious.
Overall stay. Hotel lobby area is gorgeous and welcoming, workers are helpful and friendly, food is 9 out of 10 based on the meals we did have, but a bit pricier than some other restaurants, grounds are well maintained, pool and beach area never really gets overcrowded which is a huge plus. The room - for reference I stayed on the 3rd floor. The room is a bit outdated and i think they have a problem with condensation in the room which is the worst when the balcony doors are opened. I think that will easily pose a mould issue. Even when keeping the AC on, the clothes in the room seem to always get clammy, even my bills in my purse seemed to get cold and clammy - never quite feeling completely dry. My passport cover turned up and didnt return to its original state until it was exposed to a more stable air environment. I chose to keep any used clothing on the balcony in the sunlight to ensure it didnt promote any excess moisture or smells. The floor and walls in the bathroom would get very wet when any heat was introduced into the bedroom from the open balcony so much so that the towel on the floor would easily get soaked up from the water dripping down from the walls onto the floor. Housekeeping did notice the marks on the wall when we left the room and upon our return i notoced a faint scent of bleach. It was very apparent that the cleaning crew did wipe the marks off the ceiling and wall near the mirror, but again, there needs to be a more permanent solution for this issue. There were no wall outlets in the room near the beds. There was 1 in the front of the lamp by the bed and another in the front of another lamp on the table. Both were very iffy and would work when they felt like, often going in and out of charging almost draining your battery vs charging the phone which was very annoying. I would go to bed thinking my phone was being charged, only to wake up with it completely dead. Food options The meat selection is very limited if you don't eat seafood or red meat. Chicken is almost non existent on the menu. There was a chicken club sandwich on the menu early on which was later removed. The chef did still offer to make it when i asked about it not being on the menu anymore but that was a one time offer. The following night upon explaining that a guest didnt eat red meat and also had seafood allergies, he proposed a chicken alfredo with penne or spaghetti which was very accommodating and we were grateful, but again if the menu was a bit more diverse that would not have been necessary. Activities They do offer free activities daily near the pool or garden area which just about everyone can sign up for: sip and paint, making of lip scrub, etc. If you have kids, there are also days where free sweets are available later in the afternoon/early evening (cotton candy, ice cream, snow cones). There are surf boards and jet skis at the beach for rental if you feel inclined. My overall feeling is that for the cost of the hotel room and the food, keeping in mind that everything gets taxed in GC at 18%, plus there is a daily resort fee for this hotel outside of the nightly room rate, there needs to be improvements made to the room situation and the food selection/options. I stayed at a different hotel during my last visit to GC and didn"t have these issues so I was a bit disappointed.
