What countries did solo travelers choose most in 2023? We analyzed all the hotel searches made by RatePunk users and got the answer.

Solo travel was named as one of the travel trends in 2023. But what was it really like? To find out the tendencies among those who chose to travel alone, we analyzed all the hotel searches made by RatePunk users (over 170k+ users base worldwide) from January to October 2023, when only one guest for the hotel stay was picked.

Solo trips were most popular among people in these countries
We also analyzed the countries where most of the solo hotel searches were made from. The absolute winners were Italians, with the most hotel searches for one person in 2023, followed by Polish travelers. Our data shows that solo travel is most popular among Europeans - they're choosing stays for one person most frequently. Israel was the only country outside Europe that made it to the TOP 8 list.
Will solo travel be “a thing” in 2024?
In 2024, we can see slight tendencies of solo travel being pushed out of the trendy lists. From RatePunk users' bookings for 2024, we can see that the average number of travelers per trip increased, proving a new, bigger group travel trend. Whether it's families, colleagues, or groups of friends - people are going on vacations with others, and together with it, villas and apartments are overtaking separate hotel rooms.
