THE WORLD IS REOPENING: TRAVEL TRENDS 2022

Maybe not everyone would love returning to the past, but returning to 2019 would sound teasing for many. Especially the travellers.

THE WORLD IS REOPENING: TRAVEL TRENDS 2022

After being locked up for two years, people are about to go wild with traveling this year. The feeling you've missed so much and the understanding that anything similar can happen again encourages us to LIVE IN THE MOMENT.

1. Spontaneous traveling

Less planning - more going “all in” could be the motto of the travel world in 2022.

Who knows what will happen tomorrow? You might plan a trip for next summer, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll go there, and the doubt is more substantial than ever. This feeling encourages spontaneous traveling - thinking about a trip to San Francisco quickly becomes booking the hotel there.

2. Workations

Remember business traveling? A few days in the capital city, staying at a fancy hotel, participating in a conference… How fancy!

So, that’s no longer a thing now - workations are the new fancy in the business world. Now that remote working is the norm, working from the sandy Caribbean or Bali tends to conquer the usual routine.

Over the last 18 months, a number of destinations such as Barbados, Anguilla, Dominica, Mauritius, Bermuda, Aruba have launched digital visas for longer-term stays. Of course, remote work requires certain conditions: like great Wi-Fi to keep in touch with the rest of the world and, of course, your office. It’s becoming super easy to access, and the deals you find may pleasantly surprise you.

Take this one, for example… Hope it’s enough time to plan it for July 👇

3. Ethical tourism

Even though getting to know other cultures has always been one of the main reasons for traveling, the pandemic highlighted its importance even more. The income from tourism takes a big part of the economy in many countries. And when the flow of travellers stops, it harshly affects local businesses.

And travellers are an understanding community.

Instead of staying at well-known hotel brands, people start supporting local Airbnbs. Instead of eating at five Michelin star restaurants, they more often choose local restaurants. And shop at small markets. Because who if not us?

4. All-inclusive is the priority

Covid tests and paperwork made traveling quite complicated. An idea of booking an all-inclusive resort sounds tempting when you imagine the stress it may prevent. The pandemic period encouraged many fancy properties to include the all-inclusive as a type of stay. Who doesn’t love a short getaway when there’s NOTHING to worry about?
