We stayed here for on night in late December as we had friends staying and we thought we’d visit from the Sunshine coats where we were holidaying.||We got off to a good start, as we were upgraded to a Queenslander Suite, although it was at the backside of the resort with a garden view. The suite was plenty large enough and the room well set up. The fit out seemed it was aging a bit and different to another couple of rooms I looked in, which seem to have been refurbished more recently. The room was pretty dark actually and didn’t have enough ceiling lights..which was normal for a hotel of its age, when designers thought that people liked dark hotel rooms. This is where we were let down a bit by the room’s preparation. We walked in and the sofa bed was open and made up, making me think the room was prepped for someone else. Easy enough to refold it into a sofa so we could use it to watch TV. We walked into the bathroom and a used shower cap was hanging off the tap..easy enough to throw away. We opened the fridge and there were half eaten cakes on a plate and a half drunk bottle of juice..so housekeeping hadn’t been very thorough. We were. Supposed to have water in the room…nope and there were no bathrobes..a must for my wife when at a 5 star resort…part of the ritual…which they brought when they took away the half eaten food. As a said, the room was a bit older and hard to get the air cond to the right temp. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable and a good functional bathroom.||The resort grounds were great. Nice pool and lagoon pool. Bar/cafe by the pool, although we only bought drinks there. The resident Kangaroos were wondering the grounds in the morning, although I was a bit nervous with the 6’ muscley male with long sharp claws staring at me as I walked past his mate and Joey.||Food was great. We ate a fabulous meal at the Fire Place, our friends had steaks and we had the lamb to share, which was huge, absolutely tender and I felt excellent value for the quality of the food. We ate breakfast at the hotel, but occupancy was high so it felt crowded and the staff struggled to replenish things on the buffet and the queue for the egg station was long and special orders of food for people with dietary restrictions took nearly an hour.||I used the gym, which was fantastic and part of the Country club/golf club for the resort and residences on the island. Good new technogym cardio equipment and plenty of cable weigh stations and free weights plus an outdoor circuit area with all the usual HIIT, and circuit stuff like balls, battle ropes, sleds, etc. it’s a shame the group fitness classes weren’t on between Christmas and New Year as they appeared to have all the BodyPump equipment and some pretty decent BodyBike spin bikes.||Free self park parking was a nice touch, I hate be charged for parking when. Hotel clearly has the grounds for plenty of parking. The staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful.||One more minor annoyance was that we were given as late as checkout as they could give us at 12 noon, but they cancelled our room access cards at 11, so when we went back to the room after our swim at 11:30, we were stuck a long way from reception, unable to get in our room with dripping wet swimming costumes on. Luckily I found a housekeeping staff member who was obliging and let us in the room.||So overall, it was a nice stay with good company, decent food and good hotel grounds let down a little by the age and darkness of the room fit-out and the attention to detail by the housekeeping staff. Considering how much it cost per night, I would have expected a little better by IHG, which is why only 4 stars

It has come to my attention that the personnel employed at your esteemed hotel lack sufficient knowledge regarding the facilities available. In preparation for our visit, I took the initiative to contact the hotel one day prior to our arrival, specifically inquiring about the availability of an Electric Vehicle (EV) charger in the car park. To my satisfaction, the receptionist confirmed its existence. However, upon our arrival, I once again inquired about charging my car, only to be informed by a different staff member that no EV charger was present at the hotel whatsoever. This inconsistency in information was quite disconcerting. Furthermore, I sought information regarding the tennis court facility, specifically inquiring about any time limits and availability. The response I received from one of your personnel was rather vague, stating that we should simply drive to the location. Regrettably, upon reaching the tennis court, we were promptly informed that prior booking was required, and all slots were already occupied. This misinformation proved to be quite frustrating. Additionally, when inquiring about the gym facilities, the information provided by your staff regarding the age limit was incorrect. It would greatly benefit your establishment to conduct thorough training sessions for all employees prior to their commencement of work, ensuring that they possess accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the hotel's facilities and policies. In light of the aforementioned experiences, I must express my disappointment with the level of service provided by your staff. It is crucial for a reputable establishment such as yours to maintain a well-informed and competent workforce. I sincerely hope that you will address these issues promptly and implement appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
