We just spent 4 days there and overall we had a great time. While the building's exterior is pretty boring, the inside is really warm and cosy, with lots of wood and great views. We had booked Double Rooms Lake View and the rooms were spacious, well equipped. The spa is also very nice, with a choice of sauna, sanarium and steam bath. Note that the sauna and sanarium have big windows facing the lake, which means brightly lit during the day (and it can feel weird to be naked super close to the skiers though they can't actually see you due to reflective windows). We booked the 50 minute aromatic full body massages for 3 of us and these were some of the nicest massages we experienced. We very much enjoyed most of our food experiences there, starting with a really high quality and varied breakfast buffet (the croissants and breads are top French quality, which is rare in Switzerland) and the dinner in the main restaurant as well as the fondue in Chalet Gemsy. Staff was generally very friendly, though a number of them were new and made a few mistakes here and there. The handling of the luggage directly when you arrive at the parking at the bottom of the gondola is really convenient, if a little slow (you typically have to wait 30-60 minutes for your luggage on the way up, and down - pro tip: make sure you keep anything you need immediately after arriving at the hotel or back at your car on the way down with you so you don't have to wait for it). There were a few things that could have gone better than we'll call out here for everyone's benefit, including hotel management, but that we did not think justified going down to 4 stars given overall we had a great time: - the sound proofing of the rooms is subpar for a 4* hotel. Nothing dramatic but we're used to not hearing a thing whereas here we could hear some of the noise from the level above, the corridor, etc. - we could not find a temperature control for the room - it was fine but the duvets were really thick - which feels nice initially but then during the night you end up either too warm if you have it on, or too cold if you don't. - we had one subpar experience for one dinner at the Frutt Lago Italian restaurant where everything that can go wrong with a restaurant meal went wrong: starting with some mess up of our booking (confusion over which restaurant and menu we could order from given we were half board - they immediately clarified that the problem was staff at reception had been given incomplete info but it took a while to sort it out,) super slow service overall, 2 of us got our main course roughly once the other 2 had finished their main course!, one hot main course was cold when served, truffled flavored carpacio did not have any noticeable truffle, the hot chocolate lava cake was surprisingly super salty, one waiter almost took away our bottle of wine thinking it belonged to other guests who had left, the pizzas didn't have much taste, and they messed up the bill) but we received plenty of apology and they comped our 2 proseccos and the lava cake so we weren't too mad - but it was a surprising let down compared to all our other culinary experiences that were really great - the spa relaxation room is subpar: it's just a basic room, no windows - we fantasized that if the main sauna and the relaxation room were swapped, the sauna could be cosier (we're personally not big fans of brightly lit saunas), and the relaxation room could be beautifully cosy with great lake views - tip for hotel management: if you don't do this, at least consider partitioning the sauna with a full height wooden wall from the north wall to the oven: extra capacity, more cosy - the Spa menu in German was very different from the English menu, with very different prices too (e.g. our massage was 150CHF on the German menu and 118CHF on the English menu) - best way to get frustrated customers - they're apparently working on fixing this... - generally prices are high, even for Switzerland, but it is a nice place in a pretty secluded location, and no one forced us to come here :-)

An amazing set-up for a cozy retreat in the Alps. Surrounded by a beautiful lake, a cute little village/resort and the mountains of the Swiss Alps lies this rather new hotel I have been visiting before. Overall its a great place to stay with an okay price/value ratio. The rooms are tidy, spacious and feel cozy. They imitate an Alpine chic look by incorporating nice materials like wood and "local" fabrics. They are well cleaned and maintained and offer a nice view towards the lake/mountains depending on the facing. Overall we enjoyed our stay however I would NOT go there for the food (lunch/dinner) as it is simply over the top in all perspectives. It is rather pricey and yet presented/cooked to immitate some sort of an "haut-cuisine" kitchen that they however to live up to. Further more it appears that the personell in the restaurant is not yet very well connected/introduced hence giving a rather uncoordinated apperance towards the client. Here a more authentic/local choice of staff would add so much value to the over all experience. The Spa/Wellness area is great and offers all you need... Would I/we return? Most likely, however the restaurant is something that needs to improve on all aspects.
