This is one of the strangest things that has happened to us with a reservation. We booked this hotel several months ago. My husband is a frequent Marriott user. I don't know his status, but he travels a great deal for business (200+ nights/year) and chooses Marriott regularly. In any case, we booked the hotel and thought we were all set. About a week ago, my husband forwarded me a voicemail from the hotel saying they have been emailing us and cannot get ahold of us, and to call the hotel. This is very strange as, as previously stated, we have a very active Bonvoy profile. We never received any emails from the hotel. We were on vacation, and it did take us a couple days, but we called the hotel in Italy directly, but were routed to the call center. They told us our reservations had been cancelled but could not tell us why. We asked to be connected to the hotel in Venice directly. They said we could not be. We looked up the hotel phone number on the website and tried, again, to call the hotel directly, with no lucky. We were routed back to the call center. Friends of ours had stayed here last summer and suggested it, and, ironically, we told other friends about the hotel and they are staying there later in June, as per our suggestion. However, after reading current reviews and speaking with other friends who travel regularly, we are probably not going to further pursue this further. I have been to Venice many times in the past but am currently hearing Venice is a "has been" city and am not too interested in chasing down a cancelled reservation and poor customer service. I like Relais and Chateau properties a lot and we are booked at a couple during our stay in Italy so we will probably just go with those selections and skip this property.

I approach hotels reviews from a customer loyalty perspective since I have stayed over 7 years in hotels in the past 28 years. I now have 1277 nights in Bonvoy hotels (3.5 years) so I tend to be picky on certain things. ||In past business travel I was not usually able to stay in 4 or 5 star hotels, but I have managed to stay in enough JW Hotels over the years to compare. In my 1,277 nights in Marriott hotels, I cannot remember any hotel as nice as this JW Venice, and we could not even enjoy half of the resort due to bad weather. What a gem this place is. We wish we could have stayed in warmer and drier months to really enjoy everything offered on the grounds….from picnics to cooking lessons, but maybe another time we will have an opportunity.||I stayed with my family, on points, and with Titanium Status. My room was upgraded with Suite Night Rewards, but I suspect this staff would have upgraded us anyway. Breakfast was free for my entire family due to my status, and very much appreciated. This breakfast team could teach other hotels staff how to make sure the customers start off their day happy and content. This staff worked as a team like I have rarely seen in other hotels. Beatrice was a delightful woman, as were the other ladies who attended us daily. We had fresh, well prepared food, delicious coffee, and great service….what else could one ask for?||My Marriott status was recognized throughout our stay with small tokens of appreciation…..chocolates, snacks, etc. These gestures really warm the heart and puts a smile on the faces of my family.||Part of the reason I give such high marks for this hotel isn’t just the cleanliness, the appearance, location, and activities, but because the staff was so amazing and genuine throughout our stay. Housekeeping was fantastic, as was front desk, waiters, and everyone else we encountered.||If I had to give criticism on any aspect of the stay, it would be on the bartender staff. There just seemed to be a disposition (attitude) that wasn’t the same as the rest of the staff. Our sample was more than one night, so it wasn’t just a bad day. Maybe we were just spoiled by everyone else.||Anyway, well done by all and I hope we can return one day.
