Positive: the resort is close to the airport, food was really good, the room was spacious and had a nice tub. The resort has a nice spa and nice set up at the beach with umbrellas and chairs. Negative: staff is very unfriendly. Anytime we've asked for anything or go to the buffets, Star Cafe or Receptionist desk, the staff was rude. There is zero customer service at the Grand which is the high end Iberostar resort on Rose Hall. We also did not feel safe. When we came back to our beach chairs after taking a walk on the beach, there was a local who was not a guest at the resort sitting on our chair with his book bag and gun. We told him he was sitting in our chair and he got up but left his gun on our chair. We had to tell him he forgot his gun. There are a lot of drug dealers hanging on the beach trying to sell to us and the resort security and beach staff do nothing about it. The security is more concerned with keeping guests from their lower end properties like Suites and Beach from coming to the Grand but do nothing about the drug dealers hanging on the beach area of the Grand. The room service was awful. After 2 consecutive nights of never receiving our room service order for food, we stopped ordering since we had to go to the Star Cafe anyways to get something to eat because room service never came. They kept forgetting to restock our minibar and had to call to remind them to bring us water, soda and snacks for our room.
