My kids (1.5y and 3y) caught HFMD 🫠, and I know it is a very contagious illness but I know for fact things like the infants highchiars and tray are not properly sanitized between uses and although my kids could have gotten in anywhere in the resort I just feel like those high chairs are probably a harvesting ground and if not being adequately sanitized between each use that disease will continue to circulate the resort.. Been to many all inclusive but this was the first one we have gone to as a family. So here’s the rest of my review.||Colonial buffet was HORRENDOUS service. I have never as a parent felt like such an inconvenience. I circled the seating area 3x during breakfast and was denied by 3 seperate servers to find me a table to sit at with my infant in the stroller and just myself. I got told the stroller would be in the way by one server, the next one just looked me up and down and around the dining room and shrugged his shoulder and walked away, and the third one hesitated my presence as she was setting the table before I finally just plopped down in the seat and told her I would be sitting here and requested a high chair. Condiments were only available upon request and when you did ask it would take them like 15-20 min to bring you something. It was also very busy and for some reason they often only had one side of the buffet dining area open despite it being packed (they have a colonial side and a tropical side of seating). If you’re going to the resort I would recommend walking down the Maya mall and going to the caribe buffet. Much more pleasant staff and welcoming experience. ||Room keys were very finicky and never consistent. One of the travellers in our group had to go back 3 days in a row to get her keys fixed. ||Our shower/water stunk sooooo bad. Like as I’m lathering soap I was almost gagging at whatever smell was coming from the tap or drain. ||Had to be up by 7am to secure a pool chair. ||Tried for laundry service 3 days in a row and they just never showed up. ||The resort has quite a few water playgrounds/slides, but an adult is NOT allowed to go down them with their kids and they heavily enforce this. So unless your kid is at an age that they can climb up independently and safely go down a water slide then the water parks aren’t worth it! ||Overall I just don’t know if I would go back to this resort. I didn’t feel like the staff were very welcoming and friendly ( it usually feels like staff at all inclusives are over welcoming and friendly) but this resort just didn’t have that vibe and I truly mostly felt like a huge inconvenience during buffet times, especially at colonial buffet and the colonial poolside buffet.

Overall, the hotel was very clean, the beach was beautiful, and the dolphin show was great for the kids.||There are a few things to call out as areas for improvement / considerations, especially for families with younger kids:|We traveled with another couple and we were able to get rooms next to each other, asking for such at time of booking. However, they put us right next to the amphitheater. All the shows there started at 930pm and went to 11-12. With 3 small kids, this was difficult as they were woken up several times throughout the week. The theatre was so un-necessarily loud, and we could hear nearly every word of every show even with the security gate and patio door both closed.||They only have 1 person who does the dinner reservations, and it’s a very long process. We did it immediately after check in and had very few options from which to choose as everything was booked. This process took 1.5 hrs, so have patience.||Similarly for the child care, you have to request the service at least 24 hrs in advance. They outsource the service so you have to wait 12-18 hrs to get a confirmation. We tried 3 times and were never able to successfully get a sitter which was disappointing. ||The rooms were very standard and the food was decent. The only objection is that the buffet doesn’t open until 630pm which was hard some days for the kids as that’s nearing their bedtime. There was also no pre-dinner (or really anytime) entertainment outside of the 930p night show. It'd be great to have some kind of live music or dancing for the little kids in the late afternoon.||Our biggest gripe was that the pools were frigid. Our two youngest looked longingly at the pool slides, but wouldn’t get in at all and parents (beyond us) had to take their kids out of the pool they were shivering so bad on a few days. I assume this is bc the weather was cooler (till in the mid 80s?) and they don’t normally heat the pools, but it was a bit disappointing as it was a key consideration in choosing this resort.
