If I could rate this 0 stars, I would. I had booked for a week, along with 7 other rooms, for my wedding. I cancelled all 8 rooms after seeing mine. In the past I’ve stayed in sleazy KL motels, fire-trap apartments, and Thai B&Bs which charged fees for blood and bodily fluid damages. However, the Chulan is the ONLY place that I couldn’t even bear to spend a night in. Don’t believe the official photos and high-star Google rating. The rooms are dirty as sin - sticky carpets, peeling wallpaper, and stains of what looked like blood or fecal matter on the furniture. Walking through the corridors feels like navigating a haunted mansion - flickering lights, cramped spaces, and a thick air of eerie presence. The carpark is also unguarded and pretty much a death trap if someone decides to follow you down there at night. Staff are sadly unapologetic about the room quality. Non-responsive to requests and happy to brush off complaints with a “we will talk to management” followed by total ghosting. Which, given the haunted vibe, kind of makes sense. Great if you’re up for sleepless nights surrounded by filth and the occasional haunting. UPDATE: I got a full refund after pushing for it for a week. So, there’s that.
