Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel

I cannot fault our stay at the Tivoli Doelen. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with a warm hand towel, coffee, being able to check in very early (which was great as we had got very wet en route due to the bad weather) and a room upgrade.||The communal areas as gorgeous, with understated glamour and smelt delicious. Our room was stylish, calm and was very spacious. The bed was enormous, with lovely bedding.||The bathroom was equally lovely, with beautiful smelling Lalique toiletries. The only thing I’d say, to make it perfect (and this is a personal thing), is that I would have loved a bath. There was everything you could want in the room - from glasses, iron, hairdryer, dressing gown and slippers.||There was some noise on the Saturday morning from bin men outside but this was not the hotel’s fault and could be avoided if you had a canal view room.||The breakfast is great, with a wide range in the buffet, plus an à la carte choice. It is served in the lovely restaurant, which overlooks the canal and we even had a cellist to accompany our breakfast, which was lovely. The hotel also offers a complimentary aperitif hour, with champagne and snacks.||The hotel has a historic past, with links to Rembrandt, and is in a great, central location. There’s easy access to all areas, near to 2 tram stops, and plenty of good bars and restaurants in the immediate area.||Finally, all staff were friendly and very efficient, particularly the concierge who was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of helpful tips.||We will definitely be back.
