The hotel looks really lovely. The overall 3 stars is based on a comparison with other Van der Valk hotels in The Netherlands. We booked a family room for 3 persons directly with the reception desk since the website was giving an error at that time. Everything went fine, except that the loyalty program could not be applied and the prices via the front desk were slightly higher than on the website. The room looked very pretty and cleaned, but nothing like the description on the website. No sofa bed or king size bed! There were just two separate beds and of course a living room with a .... broken sofa. So, we returned to the reception since we were traveling with a child and ask for a room with a king size bed instead. According to the lady's at the front desk, the room could not be changed once we already checked in. The room service lady was sent in to fix the problem. 5 stars for the very friendly girl that showed up. She was extremely friendly and helpful and did modify the two beds into one (although that was definitely not the best solution, our child whom slept in the middle did not feel comfortable). Also, thank you to the same lady whom offer to bring towels and a kids box for our child (the room was definitely not equipped for more than 2 guests) Bathroom was lovely. Relatively new, very clean and nice. Living room looked great until you took a seat. The couch made a horrible noise on one half and give the impression it will collapse at any moment. There were 2 flat TV's with internet. That was great for a child whom wants to hear YouTube kinderlidjes in the morning. We booked breakfast and also tried the restaurant in the first evening. Took a while to make the reservation for the restaurant although were only 2 tables occupied at the time. Restaurant looks nice, service I found it terrible. Friendly faces and smiles, but slow and definitely not flexible. Also, as compared with the restaurants nearby, way overpriced and very small portions. The meat was almost burned on outside and cold and raw on inside although was ordered "well done". The desert was mediocre as compared with other Van der Valk hotels. There were only 4 tables at that time occupied, 3 waiters and took forever to get someone at the table. Also, the small appetizers that are offered while seated, they will show up on your check out bill 😂😂. Parking is indoor, is right under the hotel and is with a gate. We loved that. Elevator.... they have only one working Elevator. Overcrowded, stops on every floor and takes forever to show up. Breakfast was okay. Overall, hotel is lovely but not suited for families. For eating and drinking are lot of nice restaurants nearby that offer way better service, food and prices.
