My husband and I just spent 5 nights at this resort and can honestly say that we’re disappointed. We stayed in an oceanfront room near the Ballyhoo Restaurant and it certainly wasn’t cheap. Where do I start? It is extremely disappointing that they do not serve any type of authentic Puerto Rican food. The restaurant hours are inconvenient and we found ourselves going to bed hungry on multiple nights. This resort can be considered a big ripoff. For example, a bag of chips at the market shop is EIGHT dollars, a Medalla beer (single) is SIX dollars. This is just a couple of examples, every single item in that shop and on this resort is insanely overpriced. At check-in, we were told that if we use any of the resort amenities (pool, gym etc) it’s a $75 daily fee. So, that’s not included in the $2100 we spent for a 5 night stay (booking + nightly resort charge). One of the ‘funiculars’ stopped working for a couple of days during our stay, which made the trip to/from our room a big inconvenience. This trip to/from was already a hike, but this made it annoying. One of the elevators necessary to get to the lobby also stopped working for a couple of days, so that added onto that as well. I even saw a few people get partially stuck in the elevator and they had to push the elevator doors open to get out. The WiFi was terrible there. I had no reception in the room. The pool was dirty with a lot of hair and bugs floating around. My balcony door came off the bottom hinge upon opening the door, which prevented me from being able to close it. I called the front desk to report it and they did send someone over though it took him an hour or so which ruined our dinner plans. Yes, the views are breathtakingly beautiful but I would not return to this resort nor would I recommend it to anyone I know that wants to travel to PR for an authentic experience. You’re better off staying in San Juan/Old San Juan if you’re looking to experience the culture and have a variety of things to do. This resort is so out of the way and in a quiet town, obtaining an Uber there is a challenge. This was not the experience I wanted my husband to have for his first time visiting PR, truly disappointing all around.

Been to many resorts now in many countries and this may have been the nicest views, pool and location. Private island beach was great, people were great. Now somebody just needs to figure out how to get their food prices under control to fit a family budget. ..
