Excellent property with excellent connectivity at a great location. Hotel was connected to Raffles City mall, it’s a short 2 minute walk to the City Hall MRT, so it’s a good base to explore Singapore. Check in was seamless and friendly, with adequate explanations regarding the facilities. Room was well furnished though it may be a bit dated for some. No bath tub, just shower. No bidet, too. Amenities were Le Labo Rose 31, which I’m afraid not everyone may enjoy as the scent is quite polarising. Mini bar well stocked with TWG tea and a Nespresso machine. Drinking water is provided through a filter tap in the wash room. Bed was comfortable. Curtains did not close fully though, perhaps the auto mechanism was a bit faulty. We had welcome drinks at antidote, which were of high quality. Gym is open 24 hours. There is a spa/sauna facility but swimming attire required. The pool can get crowded over the weekends. Did not have breakfast during this stay, though it can be had at either Prego or the Asian restaurant at Level 2. Check out, too, was seamless and quick. Friendly service throughout the property.

Robotic Staff and bad customer handling skills Very surprised at the service level of this hotel this time around. They very much lack the professionalism expected out of staff working at a five-star chain, that too the likes of a Fairmont. I have been a regular at this hotel and come here nearly every second month for 3-7 days. Am an Accor member (their loyalty program). I just landed from Jakarta where I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, service there just posils. They are so curious and impeccable in their service and attitude that guests tend to expect the same from all hotels. Which in this case was really an eye opener. The thing that surprises me is the staff are extremely robotic in nature, nobody wishes you in the lobby, even when I went to check in, I was not even greeted, the person just put his hand out and said “passport”. I replied by saying “good morning”. All employees look super unhappy, nobody smile or makes you feel welcome. I checked in at 13:15, Mr Li Yang who was checking me in mentioned no rooms available since I am checking in early before 15:00. I told him are you sure no rooms? he replied “your room rate is corporate rate so I can only give you that room. I have only one available on the 8th floor you only have that choice, or you wait for 2 hours”. I said ok I will take it. When I went to a room, I was surprised that this room was so low and had no sunlight, it was dark and dingy. I was super disappointed and angry at this point I went down told Mr Li Yang that either he moves me to another room or just cancel my booking at this point since Fairmont does not value client loyalty (I have been regular customer for ages), I will call mandarin oriental Singapore where we have the exact same rates and check if they can give me a room instead. He replied “your rate is corporate rate, I can only give you that room (I don’t know why he is repeating that for the 100th time) “ I told him then I wait or just cancel. Suddenly on hearing that he said we do have a corporate rate room on the 16th floor, at this point I was surprised that how in 2 minutes time when he earlier said no room , suddenly a room has emerged. I told him move me there, I asked to speak to the manager to vent my frustration at this point and they should be aware on how the staff behaves. He then called the manager on the phone and told me , “manager is busy why don’t I give you an email address or phone number”. I really don’t understand in which hotel management school do they teach that a guest who is grieved should be given an email address to vent their anger and frustration. This is a five star hotel !! a Fairmont property !! I told him that I do not ned the contact detsils of any of that and to ask the manager to meet with me. Today is my first day at the hotel, I am here for another 3 days, lets see what the management has to say. At least I con confidently say that I would any day recommend another hotel as this hotel is run in a very robotic fashion and really apart from the location , everything else is sub standard.
