It’s hard to land on a rating for this hotel because it’s a mixed bag. Its location is excellent, only a couple of blocks from the beach, and the views of Diamond Head are some of the best on Waikiki. The problem is there are many other choices right on the beach with comparable or better views. The rooms are painfully austere and minimally furnished (no chest of drawers; no coffee maker) and the beds are only okay. Some of the hotel appears to have been upgraded, such as the mezzanine level, but others, including the rooms, are in need of renovation. One of the highlights is the restaurant. We enjoyed breakfasts and lunches there. Staff members were wonderful without exception. The concierge desk was exceptional. Bottom line concern is one of value: we didn’t feel like we got enough value for what we paid.

To say this hotel is 4-star is a huge stretch, this would be comparable to a 2-star on the mainland. Aside from the lobby and restaurant, the rooms are extremely dated. There is a gap underneath the doors so you can hear everything in the halls. The balcony door is super thin, so you can hear cars and buses driving by. The bathroom has no fan and was covered in mildew/black mold. The quality of the rooms really vary despite being on the same tier. We were traveling with friends and they said the A/C didn't work or had a musty smell. Our room, overlooking the pool could see into several other rooms. We also had to call housekeeping multiple times to get rid of cobwebs hanging over our beds. When we checked-in, we were told that they had upgraded us, so I can't imagine how much worse the other room is. Be prepared for the resort to nickle and dime you for everything. $4 delivery charge for ordering drinks at the pool - the bar is right to the pool, $2 per bag to store luggage after checking out, and there is no other parking except for valet, which is $50 a day. This is on top of resort fees which I'm not sure where this fee is used since the property isn't kept very well nor do the services seem to be covered by it. Furthermore, the elevator was down during our entire stay. Reading previous reviews, this looks to have been the case for months if not a full year. This means you'll be waiting forever to catch an elevator and having to take the stairs on numerous occasions. The staff were very friendly, as expected of any hotel around Waikiki. If the rate was half the price per night, this would be more expected. Save yourself the pain. The location is good but there are other great hotels in the area at comparable rates but will get you a much better experience.
