The location of this hotel is very convenient without being as loud as directly on bourbon street. However, I would NOT recommend staying here. They claim on their welcome email to have completed reservations but they are still doing them on the second floor, which has led to multiple issues. Our thermostat broke the first night, when the maintenance person came up he said this “happened a lot since they are doing the work downstairs.” So slept with an open window until we could get a new room the next day. Half the lights in new room didn’t work—front desk tried to tell me I just didn’t know how to work a light switch. Once they finally came up they realized it was in fact NOT my error and they had to reset the circuit breaker. 🙄. Then while I was on the treadmill the power abruptly went off. Luckily I was in my cool down and walking, had I been running I would have been seriously injured. When I walked out they had various extension cords about and clearly this was an intentional power cut with no regard or checking on who might be in the gym. Now they have just marked the machines all broken (not broken—just power cut off…). Icing on the cake the TV remote had to be replaced as well. I wouldn’t except so many additive issues anywhere let alone a hotel Marriott categorizes as “distinctive luxury” brand.

I would leave 0 stars if I could. This is the biggest joke of a hotel and professionalism I have ever dealt with. I travel a lot so I'm familiar with the occasional booking mishap - but this was ridiculous. Here's the series of events: 1. We booked this hotel 6 months in advance so we could be near our wedding venue, which was scheduled to be the middle of October. 2. I had a few questions about our reservation and their direct line went unanswered for months as they were closed for reservations due to construction. The voicemail said they'd be closed for the summer, but the message didn't change after summer had long been past. They also don't have any email address advertised, so it was impossible to communicate directly with the hotel. 3. We had advertised this hotel on our wedding website, so a number of our guests also booked here. 4. Less than a week before our reservation, we received an email saying they were excited to see us soon and to please let them know if they can do anything to help make our stay more comfortable - this was well received. 5. The next day we then received an email saying they were cancelling our reservation because construction ran over schedule. Their solution was to rebook us in another hotel in the Warehouse District or to refund us. The email said if we didn't reply to the email in 2 days we'd be automatically rebooked in the Warehouse. Again, no one answered the phone - and although they're part of Marriott, which had tons of other hotels in the French Quarter still available - they thought a hotel 30 minutes away was a comparable solution in price and location? They also said we could have a discounted rate in the next year if we decided to come again - that was laughable. 6. Some wedding guests received the same email that I did, but one guest did not and when I informed them of what happened to me and others, they called Marriott's main line, and they were assured that their reservation was still valid. That other guest got a phone call from the hotel directly the day before their reservation cancelling on them and again provided the Warehouse District alternative, which was beyond offensive. 7. We all had to scramble last minute to request our refunds and to find alternative accommodations on our own that met our need to be in the French Quarter - no help from the W. 8. I emailed Marriott's customer support and they were understanding and addressed our concerns, but when I replied to the W's email directly expressing my dissatisfaction they never responded. I understand there can be construction delays, that is fine. My frustration is that this hotel had no way to be contacted during this time, and as it's likely that construction timelines can vary, they should've communicated this to guests well ahead of time that their reservations could be affected. They could've worked with guests well ahead of just less than a week (or in some cases less than 1-day) to find actual viable alternatives in lodging instead of placing their guests in a random hotel across town. It was offensive and ridiculously unprofessional and Marriott should be embarrassed at this behavior. DO NOT STAY HERE.
