I don't usually write reviews for hotels, but as I just finished my third stay at the Renaissance since 2021, I can confirm that this is our choice of hotel when visiting Newport, Anaheim, and the surrounding areas. The rooms have always been clean and nice. I love the bathroom decor, and the beds are comfortable. I love the Irvine/Newport area, it's a safe location and the traffic isn't usually bad. The food at Current is okay- but the convience of having a restaurant on site is well worth it when we've returned for a siesta and just can't be bothered to find a place to eat. Lunch room service is confusing though- we called down and were told they were sold out of food? That's alright- Claire and Luis are the stars of the show at Current, both a pleasure to be served by for breakfast or lunch! The breakfast buffet is okay- a good deal if included with the room at booking but not sure if I'd choose the buffet if I didn't include it. Parking is expensive- $43 for self park and $48 for valet definitely increases the room price for drivers, but the luxury feel for two twenty somethings to have our vehicle pulled around for us and doors opened is part of the fun. Matthew is the star of the valet team- he was super kind and easy to chat with and took great care of us. We will be back!

Great staff, I had all around positive experiences with front desk, restaurant, and housekeeping reps. My room wasn't ready for an hour, so they upgraded me to a suite. When breakfast was closing, they kept it open for us. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is the parking. It's $41 at the time of this review, which is crazy even by orange county standards. It was a big surprise; where I come from hotels don't charge you at all. They didn't set clear expectations and they don't even appear to enforce the rules (I parked there an entire week before knowing it was paid, at which point I self-reported), so being good and telling them about it really makes you feel like a sucker. It's definitely not a $41 parking spot either. Dirty, poor lighting, poorly maintained elevator, cramped spots. It's not even connected to the hotel so you have to walk all the way to the lobby from the first floor of the garage. Hotel thinks it's such a valet worthy experience they do jack squat for the personal parking. Good hotel, but this sticks out like a sore thumb.
