How to Fly Ryanair for Less: What Actually Works

Paying less on Ryanair isn't about finding a secret code — it's about knowing how the airline's pricing actually behaves. This guide covers all of it: the truth about discount codes, what a genuinely cheap Ryanair trip costs, when the network is cheapest, and the fees that decide whether a cheap fare stays cheap. The numbers come from RatePunk's flight database, which tracked Ryanair fares on about 5,350 routes from 211 airports over the past month. All prices are round trips.

Start with the question everyone asks: is there a Ryanair discount code?

Around 18,000 people a month search for one. Here's the answer nobody selling coupons will give you: Ryanair has no standing public discount code. The pattern: short intra-EU hops where Ryanair competes with another low-cost carrier, flown from its big bases. Flexible dates plus a nearby base puts you in the cheap half of the network by default.

When Ryanair is cheapest

Fares we're tracking right now (updated August 2026): autumn is the trough. Median round trips for September–November outbound dates sit around $179–186, with the cheapest quarter of fares under $130. August peaks above $300, and December climbs back over $210 for the holidays. Flying mid-autumn means buying at the bottom of the current curve.

The all-in cost: where cheap fares go to die

Ryanair's headline fare covers a seat and a small personal bag. Nearly everything else is a separate charge: larger cabin bags, checked luggage, seat selection, and — the one that catches people — a £55 airport check-in fee if you didn't check in online (online check-in is free from 24 hours out).
