So how much will it cost to fly to the Super Bowl? Less than you might expect.
Right now, getting to Los Angeles for Super Bowl LXI costs only a little more than a normal week.
Getting into Super Bowl LXI won’t be cheap. The game is on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles, and if last year is any guide, a seat is likely to cost thousands. The average resale ticket for the 2026 game was about $8,000.
Getting to Los Angeles is a different story. Even with a federal holiday the day after the game and the first Super Bowl on Valentine’s Day, flight prices look pretty normal so far. Our RatePunk flight data shows that flying in the Saturday before the game and home on Monday typically costs about $305 right now, less than $50 more than the same trip a week earlier. One Super Bowl ticket could pay for more than 25 of those trips.
That could change. The halftime performer hasn’t been named yet, and the two teams won’t be set until January 31. Each piece of news could send more people looking for flights, so the price of getting there is worth watching every time something new is announced.
Flying Home Right After the Game Costs More
Monday is the obvious day to fly home from a Sunday game, especially since it’s Presidents’ Day, a federal holiday. It’s also one of the most expensive days to leave.
A one-way flight home on Monday typically costs $178. Waiting until Tuesday brings that down to $129, the same as a normal week. Leaving on game night is the priciest option, at $207.

Flying home on game night or Monday costs $33 to $49 more than a week earlier. From Tuesday, prices are back to normal, and a Wednesday flight is $19 cheaper than the week before.
That’s about $50 more for leaving on Monday instead of Tuesday. On some routes the gap is bigger: from Philadelphia, a Monday flight home costs $277 and a Tuesday flight costs $114. On a few, like Phoenix, Monday is slightly cheaper.
Saturday Is One of the Cheapest Days to Fly In
You might expect the day before the game to be the most expensive day to fly in, but it isn’t. A one-way flight in on Saturday typically costs $135, only about $10 more than a week earlier. Wednesday costs the same $135.
Thursday and Friday jump the most, to $176 and $199, about $80 more than the same days a week earlier. Flying in on game day is the most expensive, at $201, but that’s only $12 more than a normal Sunday.

Flying in during Super Bowl week costs $10 to $80 more than a week earlier. Thursday and Friday flights cost $80 more each, while Saturday and game day flights cost $10 and $12 more.
So the highest prices aren’t on the day right before kickoff. Flying in on Saturday costs about the same as flying in four days early.
LAX Is Usually the Cheapest Airport
Flying into a smaller airport usually doesn’t save money during game week. We compared Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with John Wayne Airport in Orange County (SNA) and Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), using flights from the same city on the same day.
For game week, fares into John Wayne are typically about 40% higher than fares into LAX, and fares into Burbank are typically about 60% higher. Neither gap is bigger than in a normal week.
LAX is the cheapest airport from most of the cities we checked, though not from all of them.
What Will Happen to Prices When Demand Increases
We checked these fares before the halftime performer was named, so they show what the trip costs before any news has pushed prices up.
Even without factoring in any supply and demand increases, flight prices usually rise when more people start searching, because the cheaper seats sell first.
Before the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas, the average round trip for game weekend went up 63% in just two weeks, according to Hopper.
Super Bowl LXI has two moments that could cause the same kind of jump.
- The first is the halftime announcement. A big-name performer could mean more people want to be in town.
- The second is the conference championship games. Once the two teams are set, their fans will start looking for flights to the game, so prices from those teams’ home cities will shoot up.
In 2024, when the Chiefs played the 49ers in Las Vegas, round trips from Kansas City more than tripled in price in the two weeks around the conference championship games, to $681. Round trips from San Francisco almost doubled, to $487, according to Hopper.
