kitesurfing in Mexico 2023 - Kitesurfing Spots, Camps, Lessons & Hotels

La Ventana

La Ventana, a Fantastic Mexican village, an ideal place for kiteboarding beginners. Located on the beautiful Sea of Cortez, about 30 minutes south of La Paz, Baja California Sur, and less than two hours from Los Cabos International Airport, La Ventana is a prime vacation spot. The environment in La Ventana is a stark combination of parched desert landscapes and the bright blue of the ocean. In order to spend the winter in La Ventana, many American and Canadian kiters drive their RVs all the way south of Baja California. Wind and kiteboarding play a central role in every aspect of life in La Ventana.

Every day around midday, the air masses begin to blow in, and they typically continue until nightfall. The wind is usually steady and moderate, blowing side-onshore and allowing for enjoyable, extended spikes out and back.

There are 2 places recommended to take Kitesurfing lessons in La Ventana. One is Evolution which offers various Kitesurfing lessons for people with different skills level.

The second one is the La Ventana Beach Resort. Check out La Ventana Beach Resort for a beachfront stay where you can also have kitesurfing lessons on demand. Also, the resort is pretty close to Evolution center if you are more interested in learning to kitesurf there.

Los Barriles

Kiteboarders of all ages and backgrounds go to Los Barriles every year. You can find everyone from professional watermen and women who live in RVs to young up-and-coming shredders searching for a place to spend a whole season focusing just on kitesurfing.

What was once a sleepy fishing community in the Bay of Palms on the stunning Sea of Cortez has become a haven for kitesurfers from all over the world due to the abundance of broad, open beaches with shallow water.

Travelers looking to escape the crowds of the larger resorts may do so at Los Barriles. Sea turtles still lay their eggs on the beach, dolphins may be spotted swimming offshore, and sea lions can be found freely roaming the town. People in this city are known for being kind and welcoming. The people are quite accepting of outsiders, and there is a sizable ex-pat population that makes their home here during the winter months. You can get here in under an hour from Los Cabos Airport.

The activities here are endless. Visitors can engage in activities such as kiteboarding, windsurfing, mount biking, kayaking, horseback riding and etc.

Visitors interested in learning to kitesurf can visit the Kiteboarding baja school and start their kitesurfing journey from there.

For accommodation, Hotel Palmas De Cortez is our recommendation it is a beachfront hotel with a private beach, has all the necessities for a comfortable stay, and is very close to the Surfing school.

One of Mexico's windiest cities is Progreso. Consistent and pure, the wind blows nearly year-round, at its fiercest between the months of November and June. On average, there are 300 windy days each year in Progreso. Even if the wind isn't as strong in September and October, you can still go kiting a few times a month with larger kites because of the higher average wind speed.

Discovering Progreso's hidden beaches, delicious Yucatán cuisine, and, of course, the day's fresh catch from the local fisherman, which you can enjoy as an excellent ceviche while watching one of the city's famously breathtaking sunsets, is like finding a hidden treasure.

You can check the weather conditions of Progreso at Yuckite weather. Yuckite is a great place to learn many activities, such as Kitesurfing, Windfolging, Jetskiing, and even Yoga.

Playa Linda Hotel is our recommended accommodation for you as it is very close to the Yuckite surfing school and it is a great beachfront stay in Progreso.

Although Tulum is not a city you would know for Kitesurfing, in recent years, it has emerged as one of the most popular locations in the world for this activity, mainly due to the magnificent beaches, blue ocean, and great wind.

The beaches in and around Tulum provide excellent conditions for kiteboarding and stunning scenery, making them an ideal location for kitesurfing classes or courses offered by a kite school. The beaches here are considered to be one of the most beautiful along the Mayan Riviera.

Tulum is not just a destination for kiteboarding; rather, it is a place where you will have the opportunity to spend quality time with your friends and family due to the variety of activities that can be done together. One of the most well-liked things to do in Tulum is to go scuba diving, snorkeling, or swimming in one of the Cenotes. It appears that each of these cenotes possesses its own one-of-a-kind attraction and structure, and researchers are continuously finding more of them.

If you want to learn Kitesurfing, check out Mexican Caribbean Kite Surf Website and book your lessons.

If traveling to Tulum, why not stay in a very nice hotel near the beach?

Cancun is another city that is not known only for Kitesurfing but for many other reasons as well. There are many Mexican tourist attractions situated in or close to this city.

Besides all the attractions of Cancun, Kitesurfing is becoming more and more popular here each year. Many tourists and professional surfers come to this place in order to enjoy kitesurfing alongside many other activities. Cancun's kitesurfing season runs mostly from November to June and the "Season of the Norths" impacts the temperature of the winds from Canada and the United States from November to April.

Isla Blanca, one of the most fantastical sites you'll ever see, is the primary spot for kiteboarding in Cancun. To the west of Cancun lies a 10-mile stretch of protected land, bordered by the ocean, and miles of waist-deep, butter-flat sea to the east. Consistent winds provide excellent surfing conditions, and the lagoon's flat, shallow water makes it ideal for beginners. If looking for surfing lessons at Isla Blanca, take a look at Kite Surf Mexico website for more information.

For accommodation, we strongly advise you not to limit yourself to hotels with surfing lessons, because Cancun has many amazing hotels with many facilities. Take a look at our many specially-made hotel lists below.
