Best Areas to Stay in Bangkok with Family

1. Phra Kanong

Phra Kanong in Bangkok is an ideal destination for families, offering a perfect blend of fun activities and city conveniences. This area is packed with malls that cater to kids, a variety of shops, child-friendly cafes, and cinemas. For everyday necessities, there are plenty of stores selling items like diapers, baby food, and snacks. Additionally, its connection to central Bangkok via the BTS Sukhumvit line makes it a convenient base for exploring the city.

The area is bustling with activities for children, such as the interactive Kidzoona play space at Gateway Ekkamai, the educational Science Centre for Education, and outdoor play at Benchasiri Park. Unique family attractions like Bambini Villa, with its focus on children's shops and activities, and the chocolate-themed Choco Project at SOKO, are sure to delight young ones. Nearby, the Pororo Rooftop waterpark offers aquatic fun atop a shopping mall.

For accommodation, Phra Kanong boasts family-friendly hotels like the Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit, known for its luxurious amenities, rooftop pool, and city views. The Boss Mansion is another great option, offering spacious rooms and suites with kitchenettes, ideal for family stays. Also good option Carlton Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit. Khaosan Road - best areas to stay in Bangkok with family

2. Khaosan Road

Khaosan Road is another top choice for families staying in Bangkok. Renowned as the city's backpacker hub, it's vibrant and full of life, offering a chance to meet fellow travelers and soak in the backpacking atmosphere. While Khaosan Road itself is bustling and lively, the surrounding areas like Samsen Road and Soi Rambuttri offer quieter accommodation options with easy access to local shops and food. I’d say, it's a great area if your kids are teenagers.

The area is known for its nightlife, markets, and a mix of Thai and Western cuisine. Though it lacks nearby metro or subway access, free pickups for tours and buses to other Thai attractions are common here. Nearby attractions include Wat Chana Songkhram Ratchaworamahawihan and Phra Sumen Fort.

Hotels: Riva Surya Bangkok provides a luxurious stay with spacious rooms, and Jam Hostel Bangkok offers budget-friendly, stylish options.

Sukhumvit Road - best areas to stay in Bangkok with family

3. Sukhumvit road area

Sukhumvit Road, near Asok subway station, is a prime location in Bangkok, bustling with hotels, shops, and excellent transport links. This cosmopolitan hub, part of the city's business district, is known for its upscale vibe. It's a real expat center, offering a variety of international cuisine, malls, and condos. A quick BTS Skytrain ride from Sukhumvit takes you to central shopping destinations like MBK and Siam Paragon. However, the area lacks the authentic Thai culture and street food vibe. Nearby attractions include Benchakitti Park and Lumphini Park. Accommodation tends to be pricier here, with budget options available if you search.
Hotel recommendations: Rembrandt Hotel And Suites, Maitria Hotel Sukhumvit

4.Ratchathewi and the Siam Square District

Bangkok's Ratchathewi district is the city's bustling cosmopolitan shopping area, home to numerous large malls and upscale hotels, particularly near Lumphini Park. It's an excellent choice for families, especially those looking to indulge in shopping. Contrary to expectations of high costs, many hotels in Ratchathewi offer reasonable rates, mostly under $54 per night, with several options in the $23 - $35 range. The area boasts excellent public transport connections, including a metro line. While Ratchathewi may lack traditional Thai temples and culture, it compensates with small stalls serving delicious, affordable Thai food. Nearby, malls like MBK, Siam Paragon, and Central World provide a variety of shopping options and extensive food courts.

Hotel recommendations: The Sukosol Hotel, Akara Hotel, Centara Grand at Centralworld.

5.Chatuchak park area

Chatuchak Park, located in northern Bangkok, is an ideal spot for families. Known for its vast green space, the park offers a tranquil setting for walking, running, and play, with numerous paths, flowers, and ponds. It's also conveniently connected to the rest of Bangkok via public transport, being adjacent to the Bang Su Central train station and several subway and metro lines. The park area includes shopping options and a mall. A highlight for families is the nearby Children’s Discovery Museum Bangkok, an interactive space where kids can learn about science, geology, and technology. This museum is perfect for children aged 2 to 12 years.

Pinklao Area- best areas to stay in Bangkok with family

6. Pinklao area (The Thonburi District)

Pinklao, situated on the west side of the Chao Phraya River, is an excellent choice in Bangkok for those looking to avoid typical tourist areas. The region offers great value accommodations, often providing spacious options ideal for families. Pinklao boasts a delightful mix of affordable local street food and higher-end restaurants, catering to all tastes. While the area is a bit removed from central Bangkok, with the nearest subway stop being Bang Yi Khan, it compensates with vibrant local markets and attractions like the Indy Night Market and Taling Chan floating market. Its large malls, like Central Pinklao and Tesco Lotus, add to its convenience, although getting to central Bangkok might take about 45 minutes by MRT.

Hotel Recommendations: W22 by Byrasari, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok Menam Riverside

Bangkok offers a variety of family-friendly areas to stay, each with its unique charm. From the bustling streets of Sukhumvit, with its blend of cosmopolitan vibes and shopping, to the serene and spacious parks of Chatuchak, and the less touristy but vibrant Pinklao area, there's something for every family.
