I wouldn’t have suggested this city (not only because I haven’t been there but also that not many recommend it.) BUT. The Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C., offer free admission, although some require free passes. The National Mall and most of its sites have no entrance fee, but the Washington Monument and Ford’s Theatre require timed tickets. The city's public transportation, including the Metro system, is reliable and easy to use. D.C. also offers a variety of dining and shopping options, from the historic Georgetown neighborhood to the trendy spots in Shaw. Additionally, the city's green spaces, such as Rock Creek Park, provide a natural oasis in the urban environment. 

P.S. I know that if I need to pick up the date I want to visit this city, I'd go when cherry trees are blooming.
